Andrew’s Quest: February 2010
So it’s been a few months since my last Andrew’s Quest update, I’ve been busy wasting time on Final Fantasy XII: the most boring game I have ever played. The truth is Final Fantasy VII had such a big part of my childhood that I just automatically want to love all the other games. I really enjoyed Final Fantasy X despite the poor voice acting at times, because it was the first game of its kind and the story was engaging and layered. Final Fantasy XI was fun, but should have just been called Final Fantasy Online, and I’ll try not to mention X-2.
I’ve completely given up on Final Fantasy XII and traded it in for 4 dollars towards Mass Effect 2, just to get rid of it. I bought the game the week it came out and have been trying to get into ever since. I can’t do it. My OCD says I must finish games I started but I have made progress: I don’t have to play games I don’t enjoy! Down below is my list with strike-through lines and comments. But here is the new, shorter version of the games I need to beat list.
N64:
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine
Body Harvest
Perfect Dark
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
Gameboy:
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages
PlayStation 1 & 2:
Final Fantasy XII – TOO BORING, got rid of it.
Metal Gear Solid 1-3 (Essentials Bundle) Couldn’t pause cut scenes, gave up and sold it.
Shadow of the Colossus
Treasures of the Deep
Final Fantasy Anthology I think I’ll be playing 6 on another platform.
The Legend of Dragoon I loved this when I was 12, I guess that is before I learned proper English. Sold it.
Tomb Raider III/IV/V Really, the frame rates, controls and level design are so bad I just can’t do it. Sold it.
PlayStation 3:
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune A seriously, seriously amazing game that makes me glad to have a PS3.
Xbox 360:
Resident Evil 5 Beat it, not as good as 4.
Gears of War 2 Beat it, really fun.
Fable 2
Chronicles of Riddick (Butcher Bay and Dark Athena) Great graphics on an old game that suffers from poor level design and unbalanced difficult. Sold it.
Lost Odyssey
Call of Duty World at War
Mass Effect 2
The Orange Box (HL Episodes 1/2, and Portal)
PC:
Psychonauts
Dragon Age Origins
The Witcher
Hero of Sparta
Payback
Resident Evil: Degeneration
Myst
Top Gun
Trapped
Chronicles of Inotia
Wolfenstein 3D
The Quest
Vay (Sega CD)
I’ve decided that I just can’t get into long games on iPhone, perhaps the iPad having a bigger screen will help, for now forget them all.
Good list of stuff still to beat, which one is next?
